Today kicked my butt! Toughest stage yet, but a real milestone.
After walking out of Pamplona, our next big landmark was the Perigrino Sculpture at the top of the mountain range we had to cross.
It is iconic and I was washed over with emotions when I got there.
Prior to staring the assent there was a short break in a town for coffee and provisions and at one of my fellow Camino’s suggestions I took off my shoes. I didn’t want to because I didn’t think I could ever coax my foot back into the shoes.
Turns out, I didn’t need to! I had bought those nice TIVA’s yesterday in Pamplona to replace my shower shoes. My friend Christine has been wearing her sandals for the past few days and it is working for her so I thought I would give it a shot.
But, I need to get to bed. Tomorrow is a flat day and I promise an update for both days.
For now, let’s just say it is amazing and something everyone should do!
When I have heard about people hiking in sandals, I never imagined it would work for me, but desperate times call for desperate measures!!!! With socks (a definite fashion statement) the TEVA’s worked GREAT!! They saved my Camino.
