Between the holidays, work and the weight of the results of the election weighing heavy on my mind, I haven’t painted for probably a month. I find this often happens when I don’t have any inspiration for a subject to paint.
Last night I decided to get back at it. I started with a familiar subject, Stowell Farm, but this time in the snow. It was a quickie, but it gave me the kick start that I needed.
There were real problems with the house and garage so I cropped them out. I ended up turning the actual painting into a birthday card for Serena.
Lessons Learned
- Make inspiring reference photos easily accessible. Sometimes that is all that is needed to get the creative juices flowing.
- Sometimes you just need a break.
- Depression about events I cannot change does not fuel my creative juices.
